ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT
Preamble
With faith in God, and unquestioning acceptance of the Bible as the
Word of God, and sole rule of our faith and practice, we offer to all Missionary
Baptist Churches of Christ the following Articles of Agreement.
ARTICLE I
Name
The Cooperative Association of Missionary Baptist Churches of
California.
ARTICLE II
Object
The object of this Association is to encourage co-operation and Chris-
tian activity among the churches, to promote interest in and encourage Missions
on a New Testament basis among all people, to stimulate interest in Christian lit-
erature, general benevolence, and Christian education and to provide a medium
through which the churches may co-operate in these enterprises.
ARTICLE III
Members
Section No. 1—This association shall be composed of Missionary
Baptist Churches as defined in article number thirteen of the declaration of faith
in J. M. Pendleton’s church manual.
Section No. 2—The annual or called sessions of this Associaŧion shall
be held by messengers elected by the churches composing said Association.
Section No. 3—Each church co-operating in this Association is en-
titled to three messengers who are members of the church
they represent. They
;
are to bring letters showing their election by the church, which letters should
give a report of their past year.
Section No. 4—We recommend to all Scriptural New Testament
churches, desiring to co-operate with us for the purpose designated in Article
two of these Articles of Agreement, express their desire by presenting evidence
of their origin, faith, and practice; and, we further recommend, that any church
refusing, or failing to continue in the faith and practice designated by them, will
not be considered seated in the messenger body.
7
ARTICLE IV
Doctrinal Statue
This Association shall recognize the freedom of speech as essential to the high-
est achievements in its work. It shall stand or fall on its own conformity to truth. It shall
exercise no ecclesiastical authority but it shall by every precaution recognize the sover-
eignty of every individual church. It shall also encourage on the part of churches and Mes-
sengers the greatest possible freedom of expression in discussing matters pertaining to its
work, and in the preeminence of missions and evangelism in the work of the churches.
ARTICLE V
Powers
The powers of this Assocalion shall be limited to the execuŧion according to
teachings of the New Testament of the will of the churches composing it; and the Associa-
tion, in annual sessions, shall elect such officers as are necessary for its deliberation and
work, and appoint such committees as are needed, and transact other business as may be
directed by the churches.
8
ARTICLE VI
Officers
Section No. 1—It will be the duty of the messengers annually to elect from
among their members a Moderator, Assistant Moderator and such Clerks and other Of-
ficers as may be needed or directed by the churches composing this association.
Section No. 2—In all votes of this Association a majority of votes cast shall
decide questions; except in cases of change or amendment in the Articles of Agreement.
In such cases a two-thirds majority will be required.

STATE MISSION REPORT
Though few in number, the church at Eureka has had a com
mendable year. Her increase in membership has been rather small but in
grace and study of the Word the increase has been great. Many obstacles
have arisen to impede the material progress of the church but she has
not become discouraged.
One of our greatest problems has been a meeting place. We
are still meeting in Bro. Horton’s garage because we have not been able
to locate a better place, it is inadequate in many ways, especially un
suitable in its location because it is so hard for a stranger to find.
We are still carrying on a mission at Rio Dell and will begin a
regular Sunday School and preaching services there in the near future.
24
The cooperative support of the churches has been wonder-
ful. Thank you, and may God bless you in a mighty way.
Designated as State Mission support, I have received from
the churches: $3,949.03; From Y. P. Rallys and other special meetings
I have received: $467.89, below the recommended $400.00. It has
been $368.78 per month, and has supplied our needs pretty well.
I know that you have been praying for the work, for such
faithful, loyal support insures the prayers of the supporters, I believe.
Again I thank you with all my heart, and ask your continued prayer
and support.
Respectfully Submitted,
Allen Tabor. State Missionary
CHRISTIAN LITERATURE
We, your committee on Christian Literature recommend the
following:
That we keep in mind that, first of all, God’s inspired word is
our rule of faith and practice.
That we recommend that our churches use such literature as
printed by the Baptist S. S. Committee in Texarkana, Ark.-Tex,
We further recommend that this messenger body go on re-
cord as commending the Baptist S, S. Committee for the change in
preparaŧion of the Beginners and Primary Quarterly.
We further recommend that our churches be encouraged to
keep a supply of good tracts, to distribute these tracts among the peo-
ple of our communities. That we encourage our churches to endeavor
to build libraries of good religious books, written by men of our faith.
We further encourage the support of the Baptist Sentinel
with our prayers and offerings.

FOREIGN MISSIONS
We thank God and praise His matchless name for the bless-
ings of salvation which have come to us through the message of the
Gospel, which has come halfway around the world (from Palestine)
to get to us, in obedience to the great commission, which says “go ye
25
therefore, and teach (make disciples) of all nations.”
Brethren, much of the world is still in darkness as we would have
been, if the gospel had not reached here yet.
The great commission belongs to us and it is our responsibility to
carry it out to completion.
We recommend to the churches of this Association for support
those foreign missionaries who are endorsed by the churches of the Ameri-
can Baptist Association for regular, systematic support both in finances
and prayer.

HOME MISSIONS
We, your committee on Home Missions beg to report.
By Home Missions we mean mission work that’s done within the
bounds of our association. We your committee recommend that we support
at least one missionary for our state work who shall be chosen by the mes-
sengers assembled here.
We further recommend that each church and pastor make a spe-
cial effort in the ensuing year, to establish at least one new mission, and
that the churches provide special offerings for these local missions, in ad-
dition to the regular state support they are presently doing.
We further recommend that the correspondence of these church
sponsored missions, be honored by sending an offering, or letter of encour-
agement.
We further recommend an increased interest in the Desert Mis-

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
We, your committee on Christian education submit the fol-
lowing for your consideration.
Being thoroughly convinced of the need for education in
any church work and that church sponsored schools and educational
programs are the only scriptural channels through which this can
be accomplished we recommend that the churches of California
give cooperative support to all church sponsored schools which are
in harmony with our work, and particularly to the Bible Institute
of Long Beach sponsored by the Domindues Missionary Baptist
Church.
We further recommend that all our churches put forth a
greater effort in our S. S., B. T. C., D. V. B. S. and other forms of
Bible Training.
As we further recommend that our churches try the graded
S. S. program for greater interest, attendance, and results.

LADIES AUXILIARY
We, the Ladies Auxiliaries of the churches composing the
Cooperative Association of California recommend to the Messenger
body that the data sent in by the Auxiliaries be incorporated in the
Minutes of the Association.
Mrs. George Walton
President
There were 22 churches that sent letters to the state Ladies
meeting. These letters reported that these Auxiliaries had raised
$7,776.87 for the Lord’s work.
The letters reported study groups, mission projects, and a
wide variety of ways that these Ladies groups had raised money.
Nearly every Auxiliary had helped the building program of
their church.
