M. Butimore Sr, was elected President of the American Baptist Association in June 2002 at Chattanooga, TN. Brother Butimore was also elected to the Baptist Sunday School
Committee. He is pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Fresno, California and serves as President of Fresno Missionary Baptist Seminary. Brother Butimore's hometown
is Lynwood, California; he was saved and baptized in 1970 and joined Community Missionary Baptist Church in Orange, California. He has degrees from Orange Coast College
and California Missionary Baptist Seminary of Bellflower, California (Th.D). Brother Butimore was ordained by Olive Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Oroville, California,
in 1975.
He has pastored Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Stockton, California (1975-1978), Valley Missionary Baptist Church of Reseda, California (1978-1982), Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Freedom, California (1982-1987), First Missionary Baptist Church of Lomita, California (1987-1996), Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of Bremerton, Washington (1996-2001), and First Missionary Baptist Church of Fresno, California (2001-present).
Brother Butimore has served as moderator of the following associations: Southern California Cooperative Association (1993-1995), California Cooperative Association (1996), Washington Cooperative Association (1997-2001). He served as Assistant Parliamentarian for the American Baptist Association from 1994 until 1999 and was elected as Parliamentarian in 2000. Then, he was elected as Vice President of the American Baptist Association in 2001 - 2002 and President of the American Baptist Association in 2002. Brother Butimore also served as Music Director for the California Cooperative Association from 1977 until 1989 and for the American Baptist Association from 1987 until 1992. He also served on the History and Archives Committee for the California Cooperative Association (1989-1994) and on the History and Archives Committee for the American Baptist Association (1997 -2001). In addition to his positions within the ministry, Brother Butimore is also a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians and the California Association of Parliamentarians, and is a past member of the Washington Association of Parliamentarians. He married Deborah Hester of Wasco, California, in 1977; they have 3 children: Matt (21), Rebekah (19) and Jonathan (15).
